Service Opportunity-Zimbabwe

Three of our friends from Zimbabwe are professional golfers (Reeve, Lolli & CeCe) on the Ladies European tour; their golf sponsor is donating two 40 foot containers to be shipped to SLC for filling and then reshipped back to Zimbabwe via North Carolina, Europe and South Africa. GREAT NEWS!!! THE SHIP OUT DATE HAS BEEN EXTENDED 12 DAYS!!!!!!!

What our friends are asking of us is to fill the containers! If your family, youth groups or YOU would like to gather clothes, towels, shoes, etc to donate, anything is usable. (They're asking that it be laundered, but used is what they're expecting & welcoming).
This is a big order to fill, that is why I am sending it out and asking for help! All items must be received and packed in the container no later than Thursday, November 19th. To put life in Zimbabwe into perspective for you; If mothers don't have cloth diapers to use, they're using newspapers or nothing at all. If children don't have clothes, they wear nothing. If they have shoes, you will see people walking in from the bush, carrying their shoes so they don't wear them out- they want to look nice when they get into town. Giving a mom a Newborn or Hygiene kit on the road is similar to someone handing you $100 on the street and saying; "Have a nice day!"


After visiting Zimbabwe last year and having the experience to give to those with literally nothing, my heart is full of gratitude for the things I do have and am able to give.


If you're able to help, it will be appreciated & used by many.

We are DESPERATE for ANY & ALL MEDICAL SUPPLIES –

REALLY URGENT!! Saline drips (including the tubing & needles for Children & adults) MANY, MANY children and people are dying from not having this available. A young Primary Child from one of the Wards in Harare just died this week as the hospital did not have Children sized needles for the saline drip!!!

Anti-fungal medicine

Ring-worm

Ear drops

Multi-vitamins

Water-purification tablets/drops

Band-Aids

Bandages

Sterile Gloves

Burn treatment medicines

Anti-nausea (Children’s suppositories’)

Diarrhea medicine (i.e. Imodium)

· Clothing of ALL sizes is required, would LOVE LOTS for Children…both for summer and for winter months as sleeping in the bush in the winter months get pretty chilly.

· Sunday Clothes would be great, including white shirts and ties.

· Quilts would be GREAT!

· Cloth diapers & fasteners.

· Seeds – to plant vegetables.

· Vitamin enriched meal replacement.

· Antibacterial hand soaps.

· We need hygiene kits, new-born kits, educational kits

· We need reading glasses, sun glasses (for post cataract surgery)

· Deflated soccer balls, basketballs, tennis balls etc.

· School supplies, paper, pens, pencils, rulers, erasers, chalk, sharpeners etc.

· Candy would just be fun for the Children!!

Towels and Sheets are also very useful as Mothers use them to carry babies on their backs.
